Illamasqua To The Bullring!

I'm thrilled to officially announce that Illamasqua will be launching in the Birmingham Selfridges in November!

I have had many requests from Midlands dwellers eager for some Illamasqua! Well now you do not have to journey to London/ Trafford/ Cardiff for a counter as the Bullring in Birmingham will soon be home to a brand new Illamasqua counter.

We are currently recruiting for freelance, full time and counter managers for Birmingham so if you want to join the Illamasqua revolution, send your CV to maurice.mcdonagh@illamasqua.com or apply through the website here.

I will bring you more details as they come through to me!

Current Obsessions...

Top 5 current Illamasqua Head Office obsessions....

1. Kiki De Montparnasse Scented Candles

These all-natural candles are just lovely. We currently have 'Boudoir' burning at HO - I am not sure of the actual ingredients as I have checked the packaging and the website for a list, but I do know that it smells woody, earthy and very addictive. Plus, how gorgeous is the packaging?!

2. The Gossip - Music for Men

The latest album from Beth Ditto and her band, this is a real screamer of an album! Definitely worth checking out.

3. PPQ Laptop bags for Vodafone

Based on the very chic Gabriel bag, this elegant offering from PPQ is exclusive to Vodafone - I love the deep red croc-print and the size that will take you from office to bar. Seriously coveting one of these babies right now! Check here for more info.

4. Collette Dinnigan Autumn/ Winter RTW collection

A dark collection with a nod to the gothic trends that are set to be reignited next season, this was a beautiful collection full of dramatic but very wearable pieces that showcased intricate detailing and a playful mix of textures.

5. Nail Varnish in 'Loella'

I recently discovered how this product got it's name! Loella is the name of Guillaume Vappereau's [the celebrated hairdresser] daughter Loella, who is also Maurice [our HR manager's] Goddaughter! Loella is just such a lovely name for a shimmering bubble gum pink Nail Varnish, don't you think?

** Thanks to Marcio Madeira for the Collette Dinnigan image and to thenailphile for the Loella swatch! **

Welcome To The Illamasqua Blog Page!

Hello and thanks for checking out the Illamasqua blog! This blog aims to bring you not only the latest news, events, gossip and development from the world of Illamasqua, but also endeavours to give you a glimpse into the hectic and fun world of cosmetics – introduce you to the team, see who does what and show you how a beauty company works.

Illamasqua is a privately owned company, based in London [where else?!] and have only been retailing since November 2008.

Celebrated make-up artist Alex Box is our Artistic Director and artist Anja Huwe former frontwoman of German goth band X Mal Deutschland and David Vanian, lead singer of the legendary Damned both had a big input into the creative development of Illamasqua.

There are normally nine of us in the main Head Office [I say normally as we are always constantly on the move and I think the last time we were all in the same office at the same time was about a month ago now!] and they are:

Julian – Chairman and founder...

Kate – Marketing and Product Director...

Carl – Managing Director
Katie – Product Development Manager
Crispian – Customer Service Executive
Maurice – HR Manager

Jonathan – Retail Operations Manager
Lucy – Intern

And me – Alex – Marketing Assistant. I will be writing most of these blogs so if you want to get in contact with me, just leave a comment on the post and I will be sure to read it.

For more information on our in-store artists, visit www.illamasqua.com and follow the About Us link to find details of our Manchester and London artists. Details on artists at the newer counters will be uploaded soon.

For a more thorough background of who we are and what we represent, check out the website at www.illamasqua.com - there are also some beautiful images on there and to quote Napoleon Bonaparte [why not, eh] A picture tells a thousand words…
